In her travels, Silvana will encounter various agents of the crown's interests. Since the monarchy regulates æther distribution and magic use, it employs specialists to root out renegade mages (particularly sorcerers). These specialists form what is known as the Cirelonian Inquisition. In each case of unlawful magic use, inquisitors are judge, jury, and if deemed necessary, executioner.

Every inquisitor undergoes rigorous martial and magical training and dons magic-resistant equipment. They are fiercely loyal to the state, sacrificing almost anything to serve its interests. Silvana should remain on her guard around these mage hunters, because they will tolerate her only so long as she toes the line.
